This book is excellent. Many examples work fine, and very useful. I found I can easily reuse them in my project.
JavaServer Pages, 2nd Edition Review, March 21 2003
I discovered this book when I was taking an e-Enterprise developer course. I found it to be extemely useful in making sense of and giving practical examples of implementation durning the JSP section of our course. When I had a problem converting an existing JSP assignment (using scriptlets) to using the JSTL with my existing JavaBeans, the author replied to my e-mail query the same day with the solution. I was very impressed. I will certainly look for this author in future publications.
JavaServer Pages, 2nd Edition Review, October 11 2002
I have read this book cover to cover(more than once) and everytime I've learnt something new.
It contains excellent and very useful examples along with complete tag libs with documentation.
Also once I had a problem with one of the examples and emailed the author, he answered my email the next day with solution of the problem(won't see that very often these days!).
JavaServer Pages, 2nd Edition Review, September 27 2002
I've been using Java for around 5 years, so I've seen my fair share of books. I just got started on server-side stuff, so naturally I bought a few books - 3 to be exact - on servlets and JSPs.
I liked the short, terse CodeNotes reference that I bought, but the other 2 ... Man, half the time I didn't really understand what I was reading, and I have never seen so many errors in my life! Honestly, I didn't know if it was because the server-side was so confusing or if the authors and publishers (none were O'Reilly) just didn't care.
Then I bought this book and I am once again a happy camper. Both the text and examples are clear, concise, useful, and error-free. I really like the way the author not only explains concepts, but tells me why it is important that I know them.
JavaServer Pages, 2nd Edition Review, August 22 2002
I have just purchased a copy of this book from local bookstore. It has the same title, same book-cover, same edition (2nd), and same publisher(O Reily); however, the content of the book is completely different. It covers only up to JSP 1.1. I have double checked the ISBN number, and it is different as well. I am going to return mine tomorrow... BEWARE...BEWARE...
