I bought this book to complete my shelf on Perl Series.(Learning Perl ,Intermediate Perl and Advanced Perl). I find the reading very interesting and these 3 books have become my bedtime books.
The topics covered and the flow are excellent to keep you going.
Few comments on the Advanced Perl: I might have given a title as " Applied Perl" . Reason is that the topics tell you how to do your regular programming techniques viz.,parsing templating ,Event Driven programs in perl.
I would have liked to include more topics on extending and embedding perl. There are very few books in the market dealing with extending and embedding topics.( Apart from tutorials on http://perldoc.perl.com I did not find any tutorial for the subject).
Nevertheless, this is a good buy after reading Learning Perl and Intermediate Perl.

One of the books I've used most often recently is Advanced Perl Programming. I've found myself writing code, remembering that this book explained how to do something, and pulling it off of the shelf to browse.
When putting together the "Related Articles" code a couple of
months ago, I ran into a problem where I had too much useless information. I needed to extract and summarize only the useful information. This book
has a whole chapter on language processing with Perl and, sure enough, a
couple of the examples in there did just what I needed to do.

Media reviews
"...the author has done an excellent job of making sure that you will have a good idea of how to use what's available in Perl; and, how you can save yourself time and effort by using Perl and the resources available to get the job done. At the end of the day, you'll be ready to use and integrate whatever developments come down the line."

"Simon Cozens notes that once you know the syntax theres no more Perl to learn. In this book, he shares advanced techniques for applying the Perl you (mostly) already know... Its a shame for the Perl community that Simons moved on to other things, but this book is a fine legacy from which the rest of us can try to live up to his standards."
--Smylers, The Perl Review, June 2005
"...if you're an intermediate Perl user, wanting to move up a notch, what you really want is a copy of this manual at your desk, and hours to spend working through the examples. It's definitely worth the time."
--DrPat, BlogCritics, August 2005
"...in some cases this book contains the best 'dead tree' explanations of some of the more complicated aspects of Perl yet to be published...I highly recommend this book for any Perl Programmer who wants to move beyond the basics of using Perl to do simple tasks and wants to learn about the way Perl is programmed today."
