The text says: "... the right halves of the two retinas are dispatched to the left of the brain and vice versa..." This is not quite correct; the right halves of the retina are connected to the right side of the brain, and the left halves to the left side. It is the right part of the visual field (which is absorbed by the left halves of the retinas) that gets processed in the left brain hemisphere and vice versa.
