A complete guide to automated installs and updates, June 17 2007
Excellent detail and clarity. Lists different ways of achieving things and explains their pros and cons.
A good short cut to a workable environment, March 25 2007
A concise introduction to kickstarting Red Hat based Linux distributions and how to keep them patched and up to date with the exact same infrastructure used for installations.
If you have been managing systems through kickstart, satellite server and the like for some time, there is not much new information, even if you haven't worked with yum before. If you are new to kickstart, however, you will find a good introduction to the topic, complete with a suggestion on how to layout your environment. In this respect, this O'Reilly Short Cut does exactly what it says: giving you a short cut to a workable environment.
A really good one, March 18 2007
