This is a book you need,it makes me grasp both com+ and .net service.

Fantastic book on COM+, marred only by the misleading title.

I previously read Roger Sessions' COM+ book and now, with this one, I feel that I really understand what is happening with COM+ and the basic principles of using COM+ to create scalable server-side software. It's amazing to me how much information Lowy (sorry for the missing umlaut) packs into a relatively small book. Or, perhaps one could say that it'samazing how little information can fill up 1200 pages in typical computer books.

The only problem I have is that the book is clearly mis-titled. It is NOT about COM and it is NOT about .NET. It is about COM+, and the title should say so. .NET is an afterthought, which is fine, except that someone who expects a thorough .NET/COM+ discussion will feel cheated.

I think O'Reilly did Lowy and his readers a disservice by using the misleading title to try to cash-in on the .NET frenzy. It's a great book and it should be titled correctly so that it will reach itsappropriate audience.

This is a great book. The author gives clear explanation of component services and hand-on direction of how to build your first COM+ application. Also the chapter and appendix about .NET are very good. I want to say, if all the books I have read were like this book, I should have more profound of COM techonology much earlier.
