2nd paragraph - Formula |
Calculating the start and End of Daylight Saving Time
=DATE(YEAR(TODAY()), 31,3)-WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),31,3),2) should be
=DATE(YEAR(TODAY()), 3,31)-WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),3,31),2)
Note from the Author or Editor: Please change the formula on page 45, 2nd paragraph, to:
=DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),4,)-WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),4,))+1
Please change the following 3rd paragraph to:
DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),4,) returns March 31st of the current year. WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),4,)) returns the weekday number of March 31st in the current year. So by subtracting this value from the last day of the month and adding one day, you
get the date of the last Sunday of March.

I have done everything it says in the book and can't get the final formula to work right. Part of the problem I believe has to do with the way you have it written in the book with semi-colons separating items.
I've added chartDay and chartData like you said to (I have used defined names before without problems), but when I enter them into the final formula, nothing happens.
The screen won't even go off the formula bar.
Please help.
Note from the Author or Editor: Please replacee the semicolon with comma in the formulas on page 64, paragraphs 4 and 6.
Right formula in paragraph 4:

Right formula in paragraph 6:

Note from the Author or Editor: The last sentence in the paragraph is:
"The large gray area is the workspace, which is still empty."
The workspace is empty, that's correct.
The workspace is a part of the VBA Editor, not the editor itself.
At this point the workspace is empty and no module is shown. A new module will appear on the gray area, i.e on the workspace.

The sample file under the Average workbook, HARMEAN worksheet needs some rewording.
It says:
Exercise:
A biker is doing a 300 miles tour through the mountains. The way is splitted in 5 sections. He is measuring the speed per section.
Now the biker would like to calculate the overall average speed out of the avarage speed of the single sections.
With the result he will respond the question with which constant speed he had done the way in the same time.
There are several mistakes in wording here. Since I'm not sure what wording you prefer, I'm not even making a suggestion here.
Then the other text box also has an error.
It says:
With this calculation the statement that the geometric mean ist smaller the the harmonic mean and the arithmetic mean is smaller than the geometric one is verified.
The word ist should be is and the first of the two the's right before harmonic mean should be the word "than."

3rd paragraph from bottom of page |
THe 4th sentence in the paragraph says.
'It works according to the pattern RECEIVED(day of purchase, day of maturity, usage, repayment, basis) and returns 0.46 percent."
It should say,
'It works according to the pattern RECEIVED(Settlement, Maturity, Investment, Redemption, Basis) and returns 500."
The function RECEIVED does not return a percentage. So, I am not sure which function you really mean to refer to here.
The last sentence in the paragraph says:
"The function YIELDDISC() works the same as RECEIVED() and returns the same result."
That statement is not correct. I think you mean the function INTRATE() in both sentences.
Note from the Author or Editor: Current:
"It works according to the pattern RECEIVED(day of purchase, day of maturity, usage, repayment, basis) and returns 0.46 percent."
Change:
"It works according to the pattern RECEIVED(Settlement, Maturity, Investment, Redemption, Basis) and returns 500."

Please revise the example for clarity.
