Step 1. of Refreshing Windows 8 provides the first step in the process by providing instruction to "Open the Start screen..."
The error is that the author provides the instruction to open the Charms from the Start screen not to open the Start screen.

Following figure 13-4 there is the following text:

The Malicious Software Removal Tool scans for and removes only a limited number of viruses and malware. It is not a replacement for other antivirus and anti-malware programs. I recommend the following third-party anti-malware software.

After the above paragraph, there is an info box, then the text moves on to "The Action Center." There is no list of recommended third-party anti-malware software, as stated previously.
