Objective review 1

The answer suggest to change the format to VHDX, but that alone would not be enough. It would also require answer B (expand) after performing the step mentioned in answer A. Correct?

Note from the Author or Editor:
Reviewer is correct.

On page 70, question 1, change "What should you do?" to "What should you do first?"

Midle of the page

The powshell to create a new forest is the following :

Install-ADDSForest -DomainName corp.contoso.com -CreateDNSDelegation -DomainMode Win2008
-ForestMode Win2008R2 -DatabasePath "d:\NTDS" -SysvolPath "d:\SYSVOL" -LogPath "e:\Logs"

but according Microsoft technet (reference : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/understanding-active-directory-functional-levels(v=ws.10).aspx)

You cannot set the domain functional level to a value that is lower than the forest functional level
but in the command the domain level is set to win2008 and the forest level to Win2008R2 => so it is not possible, this command will failed

Note from the Author or Editor:
Reviewer is correct.

On page 96, change the second bullet point to the following:

"Set the domain functional level to Windows Server 2008 R2 (-DomainMode Win2008R2)."

On page 96, change the third bullet point to the following:

"Set the forest functional level to Windows Server 2008 (-ForestMode Win2008)."

In the two code snippets on page 96, change both instances of "Win2008" to "Win2008R2" and vice-versa.

The first code snippet should therefore read as follows (without quotation marks):

"Test-ADDSForestInstallation -DomainName corp.contoso.com -CreateDNSDelegation -DomainMode Win2008R2 -ForestMode Win2008 -DatabasePath "D:\NTDS" -SysvolPath "D:\SYSVOL" -LogPath "E:\Logs"

The second code snippet should therefore read as follows (without quotation marks):

"Install-ADDSForest -DomainName corp.contoso.com
-CreateDNSDelegation -DomainMode Win2008R2 -ForestMode Win2008 -DatabasePath "D:\NTDS" -SysvolPath "D:\SYSVOL" -LogPath "E:\Logs"

Step 6

the name of the cmdlet Export-SmigServerSettings is incorrect. The correct name is Export-SmigServerSetting.
Same for Import-SmigServerSetting.

Note from the Author or Editor:
On page 3, in the first paragraph after point 6, replace "Export-SmigServerSettings" with "Export-SmigServerSetting".

In the same paragraph, replace "Import-SmigServerSettings" with "Import-SmigServerSetting".

Step 2

In Step 2, the command SmigDeploy.exe only works when including the full path.
i.e. C:\windows\system32\ServerMigrationTools\SmigDeploy.exe /package /architecture amd64 /os WS08R2 /path C:\temp

Note that in the book the parameter for /path is also not specified, you need to specify your own path there like in the example above.

Note from the Author or Editor:
The syntax in the book assumes the user has navigated to the required directory at the command prompt.

We can clarify.

On page 2, replace the last sentence in the paragraph after step 2 with the following:

"For example, to create a deployment folder to migrate from Windows Server 2008 R2, change the command prompt directory to %Windir%\System32\ServerMigrationTools, and then type the following:"

4th paragraph

Step 1 to install roles and features on a remote server by using Windows PowerShell, the last sentence talks about step 4, but isn't listed on the steps. Is that right?

Note from the Author or Editor:
On page 8, in the last sentence in the paragraph of point #1, change "step 4" to "step 3".

last two lines

There should be a space between the Add-VMNetworkAdapterAcl and the -VMName (on the book there's no space between them). The same thing happens on page 76 on the resource metering powershell command for adding a metering acl.

Note from the Author or Editor:
At the bottom of page 75, change

Add-VMNetworkAdapterAcl-VMName

to

Add-VMNetworkAdapterAcl -VMName

AND on page 76, in the first code snippet after the "Resource Metering through port ACLs" heading,

change

Add-VMNetworkAdapterAcl-VMName

to

Add-VMNetworkAdapterAcl -VMName

Objective 4.1

The answers part for Objective 4.1: Review do not match the possible answers on page 101. Answer C on page 104 should read "Install-ADDSForest" instead of Install-ADDSDomainController.

Note from the Author or Editor:
On page 104, question 1, answer C, replace the text with the following:

Correct. You need to use the Install-ADDSForest cmdlet because you want to create a new domain that is completely separate from the company network. This cmdlet will create a new forest and domain and promote the server to a domain controller in the new domain.
