The first example given is SCCM -- so clearly it's not "besides using [...] SCCM".

The first paragraph should read: "Besides using MAP, there are other tools and methodologies you can use to assess the readiness of your environment for migration to Windows Server 2012. The tools you could use include the following:

Page 44 (PDF page 46) The quick check suggests the command Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra -Restart converts Server with GUI to minimal server interface. I believe the command for this is actually Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell -Restart.

On Page 46 (PDF page 48) Question 2 of the following lesson review suggests Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra -Restart converts Server with GUI to Minimal Server Interface. I believe this command removes Minimal Server interface and the question does not make sense. Again, the command would be Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell -Restart.

Please clarify or correct ASAP as I plan on taking the related exam shortly.

Top - Converting Server with A GUI to Minimal Server Interface

Hi there, the PowerShell command given to convert between Server with a GUI to Minimal Server Interface appears to be incorrect. The command given is Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra -Restart, but I believe it should be Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell -Restart. Can you please double check this? I would also appreciate it if you could please advise me of the outcome. Kind regards, Marcus

Q3

The questions asks "What action will the following command perform?"
The command includes a list for the -ComputerName parameter which the lesson suggests is incorrect because the way to do this is by using the Invoke-Command cmdlet, suggesting that the correct answer would be "D. The command has incorrect syntax and will generate an error" but the answer says that the command will work. Empirical testing shows the the command as given does throw the nice red PowerShell error
"Install-WindowsFeature : Cannot convert 'System.Object[]' to the type 'System.String' required by parameter
'ComputerName'. Specified method is not supported.
At line:1 char:73

+ ~~~
+ CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Install-WindowsFeature], ParameterBindingException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : CannotConvertArgument,Microsoft.Windows.ServerManager.Commands.AddWindowsFeatureCommand"
so the correct answer is D and not B

Note from the Author or Editor:
Actually the mistake is in the question itself. Publisher should change question 3 on page 118 to remove ",SERVER6" from the question and change "two remote servers" to "remote server" in possible answers A, B and C. Thanks. --Mitch

Question 2

The question asks "Which of the following statements is not correct concerning the deployment of the first Windows Server 2012 domain controller in an existing forest running an earlier version of Windows Server?" and both the A and C answers are correct.

As of http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770654 "IFM does not work across different operating system versions", so it is impossible to prepare the installation media if the domain is running an earlier version of Windows and we are installing the first Windows Server 2012 domain controller.

The question should be changed to accept multiple answers and the answers on page 180 should be modified as well.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Publisher, please add the text "(Choose all that apply)" to the end of Question 1 on page 163.

Then on page 180 in the answer to Question 2 of Lesson 2, change the text "Correct answer: A" to read "Correct answer: A and C""

Then on page 180 change the text of the answer C of qustion 2 to read as follows:

Correct: Installation From Media (IFM) does not work across different operating system versions. In other words, you must use a Windows Server 2012 domain controller to generate installation media to use for another Windows Server 2012 domain controller installation. Since this is the first Windows Server 2012 domain controller you are deploying in your environment, you cannot use IFM.

"Real world" box

The URL to find out more information on deprecated features is wrong and leads to a 404.

The books lists the URL as: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831568

That URL is incomplete and should in fact be: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831568.aspx

"Quick Check: box

The Quick Check box says that Internet Printing role is a deprecated feature in Windows Server 2012. As far as I can tell, that's incorrect, I can find no documentation on the Microsoft site saying this is the case (including http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831568.aspx and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831468.aspx).

Are you sure you're not thinking of the 'LPD Services' role in Print and Document services? That indeed is deprecated in 2012 (as the above links mentions).

Note from the Author or Editor:
Good catch. Publisher should change the Quick Check question on page 435 to read as follows:

you plan on installing the Line Printer Daemon service to enable UNIX-based computers or other computers using the Line Printer Remote (LPR) service to print to shared printers on a Windows Print Server. Is this a good idea?

The reader is instructed to open the Windows Powershell console. However, all subsequent steps are performed in Server Manager. The instruction should read:

Log on to HOST4 using an account that belongs to the Domain Admins group, and open Server Manager.

"Stop Processing Items In This Extension If An Error Occurs"

This is incorrect:

Should be:

Q1

Chapter 10, Lesson 3, Question 3. There is no "Choose all that apply" stated.

Correct answers are listed A, B and C.

A is the only correct answer to this question.

Also answer D (correctly stated as Incorrect) for this question does not make any sense to the question option D in page 508 Q4.

Note from the Author or Editor:
On p.514 only A should be listed as a correct answer.

Also, answer D should read "By default, a preference item configured in a GPO applies to all users and computers targeted by that GPO. Selecting this option allows you to change this behavior."

All bullets have the same contradicting and incorrect explanation. For example AES-GCM can be used only with quick mode. See also: http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/dd125356(v=ws.10).aspx
Please rectify text.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Ugh. Please correct as follows: for all bullets on page 547 that start with "AES-" and also for the bullet at the top of the page on 548, the first sentence after the lead-in should read "This algorithm can be used for quick mode only and is supported on Windows Vista SP1 and later."

Note from the Author or Editor:
Please delete "and 3DES for data encryption" in subpoint 2 under the first bullet on page 551 thanks.
