last paragraph

You have an incorrect cell reference where it says: "The data has been filtered to show the numbers of a single category, Mystery, but by using the filter control at the right edge of cell B2, we could switch the table to a different category (or combination of categories).

B2 should be B1, B2 is an empty cell.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Thanks for the careful review.

1st paragraph and Figure 14-1

The references to OR and AND in the first paragraph are reversed. The formula on line three should read:
=IF(AND(G4<5,F4>75), ?Pass?, ?Fail?). The formula appears to work in Figure 14-1 because the formulas in cells H5 through H8 in the
And Or Not.xlsx Sample File, which is the source for Figure 14-1, correctly use AND instead of OR. (The formula in cell H4 should also use AND.) The last sentence in the paragraph should read: ?If you use OR instead of AND in the formula shown in Figure 14-1, all students would pass.?

Note from the Author or Editor:
Yes, this was a mistake in the Excel Inside Out 2007 edition. It was fixed, and is correct in the 2010 edition.

Note from the Author or Editor:
(previous edition of the book) True, although these issues were discussed in detail at the beginning of this same chapter. To have added XP information at every juncture would have swelled the book considerably.

Incorrect information about template files
On page 50, the last paragraph is incorrect and should be removed.

The paragraph to remove reads:

"Note that in previous versions of Excel, you could put any type of Excel file into the Templates folder or any of its subfolders, and Excel would treat them all as templates. Office Excel 2007 no longer allows this—only template files show up in the New dialog box."
