Chapter09_Starter Practice wsp site

Chapter09_Starter

This site refuses to load error:-
The site template requires that the feature
{e8389ec7-70df-4179-a1c4-6fcb4342d7a0} be installed in the farm site collection.

Chapter15_Starter

This site refuses to load error:-
A duplicate field name "Customer_x0020_Name was found

THE OTHER WSP files load no problem ???

I am using latest version of SPFoundation 2010 on a standalone Windows 7 environment (which may be the problem).

Is there a version of the pactice files 9, 15 that will load ??

Note from the Author or Editor:
For chapter 9, in order to create the chapter 9 starter site (based on Chapter9_Starter.wsp file) the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) need to be up and running and the feature activated in the SIte Collection. The error message tells us that this is not the case. A solution would be to install SSRS and activate the feature at the SIte Collection, or, alternatively, create the starter site and add the practice files manually.

For chapter 15, a workaround is to create a new practice site manually, based on a standard Team site template, using the following steps:
1. Using exercise on p55 as a guide, in your current SharePoint site, select the Site Actions menu and click New Site
2. Select Team site from the available templates and then click More Options
3. In the Create dialog, do the following:
?In the Title text box, type Chapter15
?In the Description text box, type SharePoint Foundation 2010 Step By Step: Practice Site for Chapter 15
?In the URL name text box, type chapter15
4. Leave all other options at their default settings and click Create.

Second line from the bottom

Written: "... the Ribbon may be unavailable because you do not sufficient permissions..."

Should be: "... the Ribbon may be unavailable because you do not have sufficient permissions..."

(and I've just started reading - I'm sure there will be many more)

Note from the Author or Editor:
The reader correctly identified the missing work "have".

Step 7

Step 7 of the exercise instructs to enter a value for percentage, however the percentage field is not available in the New Summary Task dialog.

Note from the Author or Editor:
Yes, the "% Complete" column is removed in the previous exercise and therefore the "% Complete" field is not shown in the New Summary Task dialog. The picture on page 110 is correct but the first two sentences in point 7 in the exercise should be removed so that it reads as follows:
7. Do not assign anyone to this summary task. Leave the Assigned To field empty.
