Step 9. |
9. Under Advanced, select the Find in source code check box under Advanced and click All pages under Find where.
Problem: application does not work this way.
Result: After clicking on "All pages", SPD 2010 turns off "Find in source code" option.
Minor work-a-round: Click on "Current page" option instead . . . and it will search the current page.
So, not "All pages" option appears to be a valid selection, when trying to do a "Find in source code" for ALL pages.
Note from the Author or Editor: Step 9. should read:
Under Advanced, select the Find in source code check box under Advanced.
Insert
Note: When you have a page in Code view, it is possible to search all pages in your site, by first selecting Find In Source Code under Advanced and then Find Where, clicking All Pages.

Step 6: |
"On The New Web page, click Import"
Alternative action: On the site actions menu, click more options to display the create dialog box. Under filter by, click blank & custom, select Import spreadsheet, click Create and repeat steps 2-6.
Error: Import button does not display.
Resolution: The Sharepoint Site needs to be added to Trusted Sites.Assuming user is using IE 7,8 and Vista or Windows 7 with Microsoft Office 2007, the Sharepoint site needs to be added to Internet Options | Security | Trusted Sites
Note from the Author or Editor: In the front section, "Using the Practice File", lists the software to successfully complete the exercises in the book. All exercises were tested using that software. Office 2010 was the basis of that software for the exercise mentioned in this errata. When using Office 2007 applications then variations to the exercises may be needed.

Step 1 |
Prior to Step 1, there should be another step as follows:
"In the Navigation pane, click Lists and Libraries, and then in the workspace click Announcements to display the list settings page in the workspace."
Step 1 currently states:
"On the Custom Actions tab, ..."
It should state:
"On the List Settings tab..."".
Note from the Author or Editor: Yes you are correct. I suggest altering the SET UP section to read, " Using SharePoint Designer, display the list settings page for the Announcements list you used in the previous exercise, if it is not already open."

Step #3 |
There is a typo in the URL of the Silverlight Web Part in Step #3.
It currently reads, "~site\siteasset\silverlightSPDSBS.xap".
Need to add an "s" to "siteasset" so the corrected URL will read, "~site\siteassets\silverlightSPDSBS.xap"
Once corrected, URL works fine in the demo.
Note from the Author or Editor: Amendment to step 3, in Chapter 4, "Creating and Modifying Web Pages", exercise: "Working with Web Parts"

Last paragraph |
The last paragraph states "The mapping of elements to Office properties can be configured only when an operation is created". This is incorrect. You can modify the Office Property mappings for an existing ECT, by modifying the Read Item operation.
Note from the Author or Editor: ? Leave the first sentence ? When you define?.
? Delete the last three sentences, that is, The mapping of elements ?.. use of your ECTs.
? And in their place add the sentence: You can modify the Office Property mappings for an existing ECT, by modifying the Item operation.
