Missing point between points 4 and 5 - in the Missing Manual :-)

Two mistakes as documented below :

( **** FIRST, THE LAST TWO LINES OF POINT FOUR SHOULD NOT BE THERE **** )

4. Ctrl-click (c-click) the frame where you want to paste the properties.
A shortcut menu appears (Figure 3-22). You can paste the properties to any
frame; it doesn?t have to be a property keyframe.

( **** FINALLY, THERE SHOULD BE ANOTHER POINT HERE, AS FOLLOWS ****

Right-click (Control-click) the selected frame.
A shortcut menu appears (Figure 3-22). You can paste the properties to any
frame; it doesn?t have to be a property keyframe. )

5. Choose Paste Properties to paste all the properties to the new property keyframe.

Instruction 1

The book says that 04-3_Mask_Layer.fla can be downloaded from www.missingmanuals.com/cds but the file is not available from that site.

Step 2

If you "click near the object, and then drag your cursor until the selection box surrounds the object," when you move an anchor point (white square) it will move the entire object.

The click and drag method enables moving anchor points, only if you start the click/drag somewhere over the object. The whole object will be selected and the anchor points will function as expected.

This seems more like a bug in the product than a doc defect.

Step 2, last sentence

The last sentence is missing a subject: "The big represents the Z axis."

Step 4

If you use the eyedropper on a fill, you don't need to click a fill to apply it. Click anywhere on the shape, and it will be applied to the fill. Same goes for stroke. Apply stroke changes copies not just the color, but the stroke height, too.

N/A

Hi,

I've just implemented the example in chapter 13 on controlling events.
I've implemented the circle and text to both be updated by the MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT events.

It works for the most part except if I move the mouse in and out of the circle quickly. It looks like at times, one of the events gets lost and
the objects do not change. This seems rather flaky behavior given such a basic example. Is there a way to correct this behavior??

Thanks.

Bottom of page

The note at the bottom of the page references a file:
16-4_Component_Index.zip. This is supposed to be available on the web at www.missingmanuals.com/cds.

On the web , there are some picture files in zip and I find 16-1, 16-2, & 16-3, but do not find 16-4 amongst the chapter 16 files.

Please advise.

Confirmation of the error mentioned above. The book makes reference to a flash document to demonstrate UI components, which it states is downloadable from www.missingmanuals.com/cds. The document isn't there.
