general question for chapter 9

Why is it so difficult for someone like me to tap into the wonderful world of technology? I have read your book, been on the Apple site and called their customer help, been on the Griffin site and called their help line, and searched the Amazon site, reading reviews all along the way, and am still unable to find and go ahead and purchase a nice reliable little sound system with an ipod shuffle and recharging/speaker dock to put it in. I don't want wireless. I think there must be lot of people like me out there who want to buy something at a reasonable cost and just have it work for a while. We don't want to have to spend hours researching and agonizing, we just want to be offered a nice simple little package that's ready to go. I want to be able to play iTunes and MP3 music quietly around the house. I don't want to take it anywhere and it doesn't have to be loud. I don't want it to take pictures or movies, or give me directions, or advise me on how to workout, etc, etc. No frills, just a simple little system that will harness the wonders of modern technology to organize and play music at a reasonable cost. I that too much to ask? Is there such a system? Please advise.

Also, does the shuffle produce any sound on its own, or do you have to use the earphones or speakers to listen to the music?

With the latest version of i-tunes, the procedure for syncing the calendar on an i-touch with an outlook calendar has changed, and I have been unable to effect the synch. (I assume that the calendar synch is supposed to go both ways.)
