"BNC" refers to a "Bayonet Neil-Concelman" connector, named after the two Amphenol
Engineers (Paul Neil and Carl Concelman) who developed it. It does *NOT* stand for
"Bayonet Navy Connector" or any other such nonsense. Similarly, a Type-C connector
was developed by Carl Concelman, while a Type-N connector was developed by Paul Neil.
These two guys had quite a rivalry going between Amphenol and Bell Labs over
microwave connectors.
