item 10

The text refers to the file Channel & Masks.xmp on the CD. In reality the file type on the CD is .mxp

In addition, while not mentioned anywhere in the printed text, this file only installs on the 32bit version of CS4. This should be clarified somewhere in the text.

Lesson Files-PsCM 1on1\Lesson 07

The file Ancient doorway.psd in Lesson Files-PsCM 1on1\Lesson 07 will not open. Adobe PS CS4 gives the following error when access is attempted from a copied version or directly from the CD itself: Could not complete your request because of a program error.

This error makes the exercise, Employing a Knockout Mask, inaccessible.

The Ink 3 curve will not change to the curve shown in the book if only the 100% value is changed as is described in the text. To get a curve that looked like the one in the book I cleared the 50% value and entered 55 ind the 65% field. It's probably not what Deke did, but it was close enough for me.

3rd paragraph

The paragraph asks you to open "Ancient doorway.psd" loacted in the Lesson 7 folder. When trying to open this file I am getting an error message stating that: "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered"
Is this just my copy or a problem with all the DVD's with this release?

DVD files for Lesson 7

When trying to open the file "Ancient Doorway.psd" I get an "unexpected end of file" error. I had originally copied the lesson files to my hard disk, but the error also occurs when trying to open the file directly from the DVD. Don't know if the problem is just with the DVD copy that came with my book or with all of them.

Ancient doorway.psd does not open, apparently corrupted. Looks like many others have same problem. Still not confirmed?

Please send file.

First numbered paragraph (1. Open an image)

The file Ancient doorway.psd appears to be corrupt. PSCS4 cannot open it either from my hard disk or from the original DVD. ("Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.")

Perhaps it is just a bad DVD, or perhaps the file started out with a problem. Or perhaps I'm doing something wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

3rd paragraph which tells you to open 'Ancient doorway.psd'.

Image would not open in Photoshop CS4 with message... "Adobe Photoshop could not complete your request because an unexpected 'end-of-file was encountered."

Top paragraph, "Create a new layer."

The command Ctrl+Alt+N is given as the command to open the New Layers dialog box. That command opens a new document.

Shift+Ctrl+N opens the New Layer dialogue box.

Figure 9-8 upper left

The histogram (fig 9-8) does not match the histogram I get when opening image YSM.psd. The shape is similar, but the position of my histogram is basically centered and not shifted to the right.

My statistics show a mean of 139 and a median of 155 more similar to Figure 9-12.
