The third sentence starts "In 1948, to the despair of ..." to describe when Muller "recognized" that DDT was a bug killer. According to wikipedia, in 1948 Muller was awarded the Nobel Prize for DDT. Wikipedia list 1939 as the year of Muller's discovery. Whenever the year, it had to be prior to 1948 if it was used in WWII (that was my clue something was wrong in the book). |
