This paragraph is out of scope, it was taken wrong copy & paste from page 57

(( When you assign a service application feature administrator, and the user is not already a member of the Farm Administrators group, the user is added to the Delegated Administrators group in Central Administration. This gives the user the ability to access the Central Administration website))

3rd paragraph

The last line of that page says
"After you have successfully created a web application that uses Claims Based Authentication, you must manually configure the specifics of the authentication provider by modifying the configuration file of the IIS site, Web.config."

I think instead of Claims Based Authentication, there should be printed Forms Based Authentication.

1st paragraph

The second bullet says
"Only the owner of the IP-STS knows which value in the token will always be unique per user and therefore can be relied upon as the identity claim. That information must be communicated to the owner of the IP-STS"

I think the last line must be
"That information must be communicated to the owner of the RP-STS"

Problems Resulting from multiple Zones

The example in this section is confusing.

At the beginning of the example John accesses the http zone and Jane the https zone. Why would John not be able to access the link to the company calendar Jane sends him that is rendered as http? Or should this be https?

Similarly, in the last paragraph, John is now accessing the https zone.

Anonymous  Jul 09, 2012

line 7-13

The first example from "Problems Resulting from Multiple Zones" does not appear correct.

1. "John is an internal employee and accesses the site through the URL http://extranet.contoso.com.
2. Jane sends him a link: http://extranet.contoso.com/Lists/CompanyCalendar/calendar.aspx.
3. "John cannot access the site through the URL namespace http://extranet.contoso.com, so the link is inaccessible to John."

If John accesses the site internally through http://extranet.contoso.com then why would a link to http://extranet.contoso.com/Lists/CompanyCalendar/calendar.aspx not work?

last paragraph

The PowerShell commands and syntax described for assigning a site collection administrator to a site collection produce error messages because the site collection has not been specified and the syntax is not correct. These PowerShell commands get the job done: $site = "<SiteCollection>" | Set-SPUser -Id "<DOMAIN\Username>" -IsSiteCollectionAdmin

Entire section

The section Content Type Syndication (page 329 - 331) doesn't tell the whole story. According to blogs from Bill English (MindSharp), Nicholas Bisciotti, and Spike Xavier (see his elaborate blog and video: http://blogs.interfacett.com/video-how-set-content-type-hub-sharepoint-2010) this section should also address thew following issues:

* Activating the content type syndication hub feature, and the SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature on the publishing site collection.

* Whether you have to activate the SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature on the subscribing site collection or not. (Bisciotti says yes, English & Xavier do not mention this. In my experience it is not necessary.)

* How to use the content type publishing hub option on a subscribing site collection (see Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Content type publishing).

* The function and location of the content type publishing error log (see Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Content type publishing).

The URL presented in this paragraph is the URL of the publishing site collection (see step 1 on this page). You can alter columns etc. from the content type in the publishing site collection. When you go the a subcribing site collection, then you'll notice that you cannot alter columns etc. from a content type.

Exercise 4, step 8: "Location for the Form Template"

The book says to set the "Location for the Form Template: c:\70667tk\Practice-Files\08_02\VacationRequest"

Not only does the directory ...\08_02 not exist, but the book instructs you to save the file as "c:\users\SP_Admin\Desktop\VacationRequest" (It doesn't directly specify the exact FQN, but that's the FQN it indirectly specifies when it says "Save the form template to the Desktop as VacationRequest.xsn" in Step 7. Since you're logged in as SP_Admin then the actual path is "c:\users\SP_Admin\Desktop\VacationRequest"

Entire lesson (12.3, Usage reports and web analytics)

Lesson 12.3, Usage reports and web analytics, has not been structured optimally. The lesson starts with delivering all conceptual information:
* Reports in Central Administration
** Health reports (page 707 below figure 12-4)
** Usage and health reporting process (page 708 etc.)
* Web analytics reports and tools ((page 708)
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) (page 710)

Then the procedural information is delivered:
* Configuring and using usage reports and logs (page 712)
* Configuring and using web analytics (page 713)
* Configuring SSRS (page 716)

This is truly not an optimal way to present information to users. It makes it hard to understand and digest this lesson.

Please consider restructuring this lesson in the following way to increase the readability:
* Reports in Central Administration
** Health reports
** Usage and health reporting process
** Configuring and using usage reports and logs
* Web analytics reports and tools
** Configuring and using web analytics
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
** Configuring SSRS

Paragraph about the customize report tool

"When you view any Web Analytics report, you also see a 'Customize report' in the quick launch. This link opens the report in Excel." This information is not correct. There is no Customize report in the quick launch, only a Customized Reports, but clicking this links opens the Administrative Report Library. When you want to open the report in Excel, click the 'Analyze' tab instead, and click the 'Export to Spreadsheet' button.

'Correct' Answers for Chapter 6, lesson 2, question 1 and 2

The text of the 'correct' answers to questions 1 and 2 from lesson 6.2 reads exactly the same as the text for correct answers to questions 1 and 2 from lesson 6.1. This means that the listed 'correct' answers to questions 1 and 2 from lesson 6.2 are in fact not the correct answers.
