The text reads:

The directory name...refers to the grandparent (two
levels up),...the great-grandparent and so on.

Try it out; it does not work under Windows 98.

The text reads:

Press any key on the keyboard here and you will see
Ctrl+Alt+Key appear as the shortcut key sequence.

This does not apply to function keys.

The description for "quit" reads:

Ends the ftp session with the remote computer and exits ftp.

However, the description for "bye" on page 339 states:

...Keep in mind that the standard DOS exit and quit commands won't
work here.

This is confusing. Does the "bye" command work, or the "quit" command?

The installation instructions at the foot of the page didn't work for

me. The indicated INF file reskit.inf resulted in Add/Remove Programs offering
to install precisely nothing! However, reference to the readme file pointed
me to a setup file which installed without a problem.

In the "Quiktray" section, under "To Launch", the text reads:

Address --> quicktray
Start --> Run --> quicktray

It should read:

Address --> quiktray
Start --> Run --> quiktray

There is a reference to a program called TweakUI.

I have two Win98, second edition CD-ROMs. The tools eskit directory does not
contain the directory PowerToy nor the file Tweakui.inf on either CD-ROM.

Starting with the seventh line down in the first programming example on

the page, it reads:

Do While Not objRst.Rst
Wscript.Echo objRst("CompanyName")
Loop

It should read:

Do While Not objRst.EOF
Wscript.Echo objRst("CompanyName")
objRst.MoveNext
Loop

At the bottom of the page under "Bootmenu=n", both options are set to

"1" even though one is supposed to be "1" and the other is supposed to be "0".

The first paragraph now reads:

For the value name, enter NoRecentDocsHistory. For the
value data, enter 01000000. Follow this same procedure to
add a NoRecentDocsHistory value.

It should read:

For the value name, enter NoRecentDocsHistory. For the
value data, enter 01000000. Follow this same procedure to
add a NoRecentDocsMenu value.

This correction will allow removal of Documents from the Start Menu.

Although you say that many file extensions are hidden in Win98, perhaps

you could mention that Explorer can be set to display all extensions.

You could also mention that the extension can really be almost anything up
to 3 characters and is not in fact "controlled" by the contents of the file.
These can of course be changed in Explorer.

You could also mention that many extensions don't indicate the version
number and therefore newer files are not necessarily compatible with older
software. For example .doc is used by Word but it doesn't mean Word 2000 files
can be used in Word 95. Incidentally .doc has been used by several other word
processors and in some cases may be just a plain text file.

The second entry in the Registry table states "windowssystem.da0" is

the current backup system portion of the Registry. It is not; check sysbckup
and look for .cab files that start with r.
