Printed Page index

The Index lists "Trash/Move To Trash command" at 409
but the section is at pg.410. i guess somebody didn't
recalculate the Index after some corrections grew the
book by a page.

3rd paragraph, a "cheat sheet" of "menu symbols"

The "cheat sheet" of "menu symbols" omits one of the, imho, oddest
symbols to appear in Mac menus which strangely is shown directly
above the "cheat sheet" on page 64 in Figure 4-1. The symbol
is in MacOS v9.1 the keyboard shortcut for File->Move_To_Trash
and looks something like this:
_
<x|

The verbiage in the book describing File->Move_To_Trash is
an example of why i find this symbol odd: you don't refer to
the symbol even tho the symbol is shown at "Move To Trash" in
the "File" menu. you use Cmd-Delete. The mirror image is
shown on standrad Mac keyboards under "del", to the right of "".

Video Mirroring Control Strip section

The section on Video Mirroring actually describes a dual monitor setup only available
to Macs with multiple video cards. The Power Users' box on 208 describes the "Video
Mirroring" concept correctly.

This is in the 3/00 printing of the book, and may have been corrected since, but I
cannot find any reference to it in the Errata section of this web site.

Under the heading Favorites

Under the heading Favorites there is a reference to Figure 5-6. I do belive that the reference should be to Figure 5-7 on page 88.

last paragraph, which is the 2nd paragraph under "Tip"

(don't know if this is serious or minor)--second line in this paragraph reads
"...click Desktop; and then click Save."
Should read (to do on my OS 9 Cube)
"...click Desktop; click Save As Stationary box; and then click Save."

"The Best Macro You Can Write" doesn't actually give me enough clues to write
the switch-to-finder-and-hide-others macro. i've been through chapter 10, i've
been through the mac help center and apple on-line documentation, and i'm just
not finding how to do the "Hide others" function (and watchme recording appears
to ignore application menu actions, so that's no help.)

so, how about supplying an actual script to do this?

Also, i've noticed that if you assign Finder to one of the fkeys, you'll get an
annoying error popup each time you use it (cant launch because file is in use, or
something like that). i'm working around it by invoking a "tell finder activate"
script from that fkey. it would be nice if the book remarked on this problem and
the best workaround.

in list "Mac OS 9 Compatibility Problems"

"Adobe Type Reunion" is listed as requires "4.5.2".

i conject you are referring to the product called:
"Type Reunion Deluxe".

Therefore, i conclude you meant version either "2.5" or "2.6".

According to the Adobe download page: "2.6" was released 07/11/2000.
<http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=50&platform=Macintosh>

According to the v2.5 ReadMe: "2.5" was released 04/21/1999.

btw: i suggest you replace "Adobe Type Reunion" w/"Type Reunion Deluxe"
if for nothing other than consistency: you don't include
"Adobe" in any other Adobe product name in the list.
