Helpful but not the answer I needed, February 23 2005
I needed answers to transfering my music from my ipod to another computer. Everyone wants this answer. I still am unable to do this, even with the step by step advice. I don't want to be too critical, as I used the book on the two week Safari trial, lost no money and did learn a number of tricks. So, if you are looking for more info, this is a good bet. If you want to transfer music from an ipod to another PC, I hope you have better luck than I did...
beware musicmatch advice, February 21 2005
While much of the content here is oh, so humorous, it certainly wasn't when her advice erased hours and hours and hours of stored music, and the many late-night hours of collecting hundreds of albums.
money wasted on the book. money wasted on music. i have to start, completely, over.
no thanks!

Media reviews
"One of the beauties of the Missing Manuals is that there is always something new to discover and the research is quite thorough...I kept finding snippets of information, in the way of Tips or Notes, that would give just that bit extra."
-- Graham K. Rogers, Bangkok Post
"Pogue, the New York Times computer columnist, is among the world's best explainers."
-- Kevin Kelly, co-founder of Wired
"I have reviewed quite a number of Missing Manual books and I am always impressed with them. David Pogue is a Mac master and the depth of his knowledge shines through."
-- Roger Bernau, ACT Apple User Group Incorporated
"The book's troubleshooting section and index is especially good, the latter organized by menu (iTunes' File Menu, Edit Menu and so on), which helps you get to the heart of matters quickly."
--George Meyers Jr., Columbus Dispatch, January 2005
"...as is usually the case with the Missing Manual Series, this edition is another go-to source for getting the most out of your hardware and software without a huge time investment."

"If you're wondering whether it's worth buying if you don't use Mac OS or if you have an older iPod, rest assured - coverage of all the different iPods is included, and there's material on both versions of iTunes, as well as MusicMatch for Windows...For most iPod owners...this book is a great and inexpensive way to get the most out of your new best friend (as long as your new best friend happens to be an iPod)." Reviews of the Previous Edition
"Overall the book is a great compliment to the iPod experience. It is clearly written and has just enough humor sprinkled throughout to keep the reader smiling and interested. I opened the book thinking that 300+ pages on a device this small with five buttons was overkill...J.D. Biersdorfer and O'Reilly proved me wrong. I learned to make my iPod more than 'just' a music player, and I had fun while doing it."
--Tom Dickan, West Orange County Macintosh Users Group, January 2004
"'iPod: The Missing Manual' lets readers in on the full range of capabilities and possibilities their iPods have to offer...a terrific reference an an entertaining read. There's plenty here for every iPod owner, from first-timers just pulling the shrink wrap off the exquisitely designed package to old hands eager to push the envelope. Very highly recommended."
--Elsa Travisano, Macintosh User Group of Oneonta, NY, September 2003
