Service Release Installation Support Policy

O'Reilly & Associates regularly makes updates to our software products available for registered users to download from our web site, O'Reilly Software Online.

In recent months, a large percentage of the technical support requests we have received have stemmed from questions that arose when users tried to install service releases. To make it as easy as possible for our registered users to perform trouble-free installation of our service releases, we have posted complete installation instructions for the most recent service releases along with the updates. You'll find these installation instructions in the Software Library: Updates section of our web site.

We strongly encourage all registered users to read these instructions before downloading and installing an update. Following each step of the installation instructions should result in the smooth installation of an update.

Should you require technical support to install a service release, O'Reilly can provide assistance to you on a Pay-Per-Incident basis, or under the terms of an annual technical support contract. Free support for installation of service releases will no longer be available after February 5, 1997.

A summary of the technical support programs available to you is included below. As always, our industry continues to change at an amazing pace, and we remain committed to providing quality software and the best possible service for our customers.

Priority Support for all software products on a pay-per-incident basis
  • $80 per incident for calls originating in the US or Canada
  • $100 per incident for calls originating outside the US or Canada
  • To receive pay-per-incident technical support, have your credit card information ready, and call: 707-829-0105.

    Annual Technical Support Contracts
  • Annual technical support contracts are available for all O'Reilly software products, and for multiple product "bundles."
