Inside Aperture Podcast 34

ben mcmillan

Ben McMillan has been a working photographer in Beijing for more than four years. During that time, he's seen the city go through dramatic changes, leading up to the Olympics. In this conversation, Ben talks about his Beijing experience, and how he also went through a personal change when he discovered Aperture during the games.

Ben first entered the Main Press Center in the Olympic Village with an aging Windows laptop and a lot of frustration. When he saw the Apple workstations with their 30" Cinema Displays, he thought this might be a good time to try a Mac and learn about Aperture. Within the first week, he had purchased hardware and completely modernized his workflow.

About Ben McMillan: He has worked throughout China, adding to a strong local knowledge of Beijing. He photographed the current Time Out Guide to the capital and originated a UK Trade & Investment project promoting British companies across China. The project will be published as a book while Ben also recently shot a city profile for the UKTI on Saigon and covered the Olympics during the summer of 2008.
