Tim,
Have you guys thought of doing page-a-day calendars? I, for one, would much rather learn one new thing about Perl or Linux every day than look at a Dilbert rerun.

Brand,
This is actually an interesting idea, one we've thought of from time to time. We actually licensed the Whole Internet name and cover treatment to Workman, originator of the Page a Day calendar concept, back in 1994, I think it was. I don't know if they keep doing the calendar or not, but it did fairly well for them.
Your idea of a Perl calendar is a good one. We could certainly think about it. One issue is that the selling cycle for calendars through bookstores is really aggressive. If I recall from the discussions with Workman, 1999 calendars were all announced and sold by this past March or April, and are already in the stores. The earliest we could do something like this would be for the year 2000.
If other readers think this is a good idea, please let us know.
If you like this idea, you'll probably also get a kick out of the Perl magnetic poetry kits available from the Perl Journal. Check out http://tpj.com/tpj/poetry. (For that matter, just check out http://tpj.com. The Perl Journal is an awesome magazine for anyone interested in perl.)
