Tim,

I read your article titled My Love Affair with the PalmPilot. It sounds like your new book will be a must-have for current Pilot owners. I was wondering, however, how much you really use your Pilot? Most PDA's are gadgets that are just fun to own, but don't offer much in terms of utility. I have read all the articles raving that most Pilot users can't live without them and so on. What is your take on the Pilot? How much utility does it had to your life. Just curious. --Aaron

Aaron,

I would agree that most PDAs (up to now) have not really lived up to their promise. The PalmPilot is the first that really works, because it doesn't try to do too much, and what it does, it does well.

What do I use it for? I keep all my appointments in it. (I no longer have a paper calendar.) I keep all my contact information in it. (I no longer have a paper address book.)

Those are the two biggest applications I use--and I really do use them every day. I keep my PalmPilot with me at all times.

I also do use the "to do list" feature, as well as a similar shopping-list application; I have a number of documents in the memo pad (ranging from recipes to important but hard to remember account numbers -- for example, wire transfer information to my bank) that I also am glad to have with me.

And as I noted in the article, I also have a number of books for reading, if I ever get stuck waiting somewhere unexpectedly.
