Subject: East Coast Perl conference
Tim,
I'm delighted that the two Perl Conferences have been so successful. But I'm disappointed that next year's conference, like the past two, will be held on the West Coast. How about an East Coast conference for a change?
-- Chris
Chris,
We're still new to the conference business, and feeling our way. Like a lot of things, conferences are more complex than they might appear. Hotel space is booked literally for years in advance. Especially as the Perl Conference has grown, it's very difficult to find spaces of a suitable size.
What we are planning to do in order to spread the word about Perl, is to put together some travelling Perl seminars that will be held in a number of cities (including the East Coast) next Spring, and thereafter on a regular basis.
As the Conference continues to grow, we'll certainly consider doing a second East Coast conference, as well as conferences in Europe. (We are doing one in Japan the second week of November--I'm on my way over to it as I write.)
