LEGO EV3 vs. VEX IQ Robotics, a Comparison in Sensor Control Systems

In this webcast Gary Garber will present a comparison of LEGO EV3 and VEX IQ robotics platforms. The robots will be designed to use proportional feedback control from optical, gyro, and ultrasonic motion sensors.
About Gary Garber
Gary Garber teaches physics and engineering at Boston University Academy. He oversees the BUA research program for students who spend their summer working in research laboratories. Gary is President of the New England Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers and has led dozens of professional development workshops. He has recently won teaching awards from the Mass Technology Leadership Council, MIT, and the Mass Science Teachers Association. This year he won the 2014 National Science Teachers Association Vernier Technology Award. Gary runs the Boston University FIRST Robotics program. Besides organizing undergraduate and professional mentors for BUA students, his outreach for BU includes running robotics tournaments and workshops using the VEX, FIRST, and LEGO platforms. Gary recently designed and built with his students an experiment, which he flew with a group of teachers on a NASA Reduced Gravity Flight. Gary is currently consulting at the Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach where he is working in LEGO Robotics Education and a collaborative teacher's toolkit platform called InterLACE.
