Webcast: TEST - How to bootstrap your hardware company in the US - AD iCal

Date: This event took place live on August 25 2015

Presented by: Ken Burns

This webcast will discuss how it's possible to start an open hardware business in the US completely by bootstrapping and crowdfunding and postpone (or avoid the need altogether) outside investment. We'll discuss our own experience from multiple crowdfunding campaigns - and how through using in-house manufacturing we were able to achieve profitability in a matter of a few years.

We will cover:

  • How to use crowdfunding to launch a business, and not go broke in the process
  • Understand the true costs of your product and how to budget for manufacturing, and set the price for your product
  • How it's possible to manufacture domestically and still compete in a global market
  • How you can have much better control over your costs with in-house manufacturing
  • Pitfalls associated with manufacturing (in-house manufacturing is not for the faint of heart)
  • How to manage cash flow in a small startup hardware business
  • How to sell products after your crowdfunding campaign is over
