O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. Changes Name to O'Reilly Media, Inc.

April 26, 2004

O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. is now O'Reilly Media, Inc. As it enters its second quarter-century, the company has changed its name to reflect its expanding array of products and services. Though the legendary "animal books" remain a centerpiece of O'Reilly's business, the new name better conveys the company's diverse technology information offerings--conferences, the O'Reilly Network suite of web sites, Safari Tech Books Online, and the new web-based custom publishing platform, SafariU. O'Reilly has consolidated its international subsidiaries under the O'Reilly Media rubric, bringing all O'Reilly companies together in one corporate entity.

"I like to say that we pick the hat to fit the head," said founder and president Tim O'Reilly. "The best medium to fit technology information may be a book, an online service, a conference, or some form that we haven't invented yet. Our new name, O'Reilly Media, is inclusive enough to describe all that we do."
