O'Reilly Launches Strata

August 26, 2010

Sebastopol, CA, August 26, 2010—The future belongs to those who understand how to collect and use their data successfully. The new O'Reilly Strata Conference, dedicated to the business of data, will explore the change brought to technology and business by data science, pervasive computing, and new interfaces. Conference chairs Alistair Croll and Edd Dumbill have opened the call for participation for Strata, which will happen February 1-3, 2011, at Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

"Strata will be the defining event for the people and companies building the new data ecosystem," Edd said. "We're at an exciting point of shaping the new applications, best practices, and tools that will enable every business to take advantage of their data assets, creating new products and services."

"The era of Big Data is upon us—a time of ubiquitous, open data, available to anyone, anywhere, accessible through compelling, interactive interfaces. It's as big a shift as the Internet itself, and we're just on the cusp of it," added Alistair. "I can think of no more important discussion to have than the one about putting Big Data to work, and I'm thrilled to be part of the process."

Submit your proposal and join the initial lineup of speakers that currently includes Mike Olson of Cloudera, Hilary Mason of bit.ly, Toby Segaran of Google, Abhishek Mehta of Bank of America, Rod Smith of IBM, Bradford Cross of Fightcaster, and Amber Case of Geoloqi.
