As with all the ‘Missing Manual’ books, this one is also chock full of goodies, so much information that it’s relative easy to use just this book to build a proper website. I suppose you wish to know what I’m referring to when I say ‘proper’ website. I mean one that is created as it should be, it looks good and best of all, there are no mistakes. Full Review  >

HTML5 The Missing Manual hits that sweet spot to help web designers and developers start integrating HTML5 into their websites. In addition to teaching the new HTML5 Syntax and the semantic meaning of the markup, it also provides a wonderful treasure trove of web design and development resources on the Internet, an insightful perspective on the differences and evolution of HTML5 Markup compared to earlier versions of HTML and XHTML, and a pleasurable pace and writing style that keeps you interested in the material from cover to cover. When I start looking at books on programming languages, such as HTML5, I look for a few different things. 1) Easy to read and understand language 2) Clear cut, easy to follow (and correct) examples of code 3) Good additional resources to look at 4) Layout and organization of chapters and subtopics flows well 5) And depending upon the language, an in-depth look at how it works. While this book doesn't offer an in-depth look at every aspect of HTML5 (it is meant for beginners) it does meet the first three criteria that I look for and mostly meets the clear organizational path. I have mixed feelings when it comes to this book. At some point it is entertaining and can teach you the basics of HTML very well, however, it is too basic for a professionals or semiprofessionals. Topics covered within the book are well explained, it covers basics of the HTML 5. Full Review  >
