Fitness and nutrition is a terrible industry to look for any kind of accurate information. The internet is riddled with tips and ideas that are inaccurate, vague or just plain wrong. Bruce Perry and O'Reilly Books have put together a fantastic book covering the basics of fitness and nutrition. Fitness for Geeks is the perfect quick start guide to health for anyone looking to quickly get an overview of the most important topics. Full Review  >

"Getting in shape: using agile and other development methodologies" If you know what agile is and want to get in shape, this book is for you! Unlike other fitness books that focus on just one aspect of getting (or staying in shape) this book is a great broad overview that doesn't tell you what to do, but empowers you with the information to do it yourself. Because fitness is such a nebulous concept, it’s hard to know where to start or what information to trust. Fitness for Geeks addresses this inertia by collecting and putting a lot of that information in a single place, making it easier to construct a meaningful fitness plan and, more importantly, to act upon it. This book won't give you a specific diet or exercise routine. Instead it will give lots of research and science facts so you could reach your own decision. It's a nice approach because it is not a preachy or restricting tone. If you love lots of details then this book is for you. Full Review  >

This is first and foremost a simply fun book! It takes an holistic approach to fitness from the perspective of appreciating the science and process of fitness. It is fun, but it also seriously thoughtful and contains a wealth of vast and varied aspects that will appeal to all. As the author states, 'this is a book about fitness and nutrition for the independent of spirit and irrepressibly curious.' I heartily agree. A greatly enjoyable read. Highly recommended!
