Given the very specific meaning of "primary key" within database design, may want to consider changing "Metadata is the primary key that links information architecture to the design of database schemas" to, e.g., "Metadata is the key that links information architecture to the design of database schemas" or "Metadata is the link between information architecture and the design of database schemas"
