EXERCISE 5 Deploying Windows Server 2008 R2 through WDS Step # 3.

Getting a PXE-E32: TFTTP open timeout error

I did the following:

On Server 2008 R2, the simple solution is to change dword value of ?UdpPortPolicy? to 0 ? located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WDSServer\Parameters.
Which will make WDS server check if the port is already in use before trying to use it.

And Restarted theServer

Table 5.1

Under Common HTTP Features it says HTTP Redirection and WebDAV Publishing are default installed items.
In exercise 1 on page 300 you have to install the web server role. In the default items HTTP Features HTTP Redirection and WEBDAV Publishing are not selected as default.
So these 2 option should be removed in table 5.1 and added in Exercise 1 on page 300 and Exercise 2 on page 301.

Bottom in Table 5.1

Is table 5.1 correct?
When I use the default installation of the Web Server server Role HTTP Redirection and WebDAV Publishing arent default options.

While performing the installation from Exercise 1 on page 300 we should check the default installation options as stated in table 5.1. Because I dont have the same options as default as table 1 I added them to be installed is this correct? Or dont we need these options in later Exercises?

top of the page , line 4

at page 500 , at top of the page , line 4 , it reads :

" To deploy into a server farm configuration, a SQL database must
already exist on a computer running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3 or SQL Server 2008 SP1. "

what about SQL server 2008 R2 and R2 SP1 ?!!

so better to change the sentence to :

" To deploy into a server farm configuration, a SQL database must
already exist on a computer running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3 or any newer versions of Microsoft SQL Server "

Chapter 1, Lesson 4, Question 1:
Answer C. Should be answer D.

KMS requires 25 client activations and 5 server activations.

The description of Chapter 1, Lesson 4, Question 1 says:
"you want to deploy Windows 7 to 21 client computers and Windows Server 2008 R2 to four servers."
21 clients and 4 servers is not enough to reach the KMS activation
threshold.

Item 3. C.

The original question on page 116 specifies "you add another physical disk to the file server and create a new volume on it." The correct answer to this question is indicated as C. on page 548.

However, you cannot extend a volume onto the new volume. You can extend the E drive onto the new physical disk if you have unallocated space on the new physical disk.
Answer C. is the preferable solution in that you want to extend the E Drive. So the question and answer need to be revised to specify the new physical drive (without creating a volume on it)
