in the errata for the 03/01 published edition of this book, you mention that you corrected the code to read as ls -l (el) from its
previous ls -1 (one).

The correct answer is in fact the former, using -1 (one). using -l causes the long format listing of ls to be piped into the subse
quent commands, and causes errors.

The better solution, may in fact be to remove the -1 altogether, as it is not really needed.

When doing directory duplications accross a network the -B option is
neccessary:

rsh <remote-host> "cd <target-dir>; tar -cBf - ." | tar -xvBf -

This is interesting on the one hand, but I wonder whether this option is
needed for local dir copies too.
