Notes from past scholarship recipients
I’ve embarked on establishing Data Science practices at the largest EDI network in retail. Receiving a scholarship from O’Reilly to attend Strata + Hadoop World was an amazing opportunity for me to level up on my approach. With a new set of strategies and tools, I’m more confident about designing a path towards #DataScienceHappiness for myself.Dana
Since receiving the diversity scholarship I’ve gone on to start a design strategist position at a non-profit in Oakland. I actually got my first interview on the second day of the conference and was able to bring in a lot of what I learned from the conference. Again thanks so much for the opportunity you gave me with the diversity scholarship. It helped open up a lot of doors for me and gave me a slew of new tools to use.Chris
Once again thank you to you and your team for the scholarship this year, it was one of the best things that happened to me this year. I’m very grateful for such support and generosity!Galiya
I just wanted to thank you for that incredible opportunity and experience. It really helped me grow as a developer, and it even strengthened my confidence and gave me a lot of exposure to technologies I was unaware of. From the networking, to the content of technology everything was amazing and it even exceeded my expectations. So all-in-all, Thank You.Justin
Thank you and the O’Reilly team for providing me with the opportunity to attend OSCON. It has been the most rewarding and enriching experience I’ve had so far since graduating. I am empowered to start my career. With sincere gratitude, thank you!Viola

I wanted to write to you to thank you for the opportunity to attend OSCON this year! I arrived early, spent valuable time meeting and talking with people and making the right connections. OSCON was important because it helped me look beyond just Health IT related Open Source. It helped broaden my horizons, get up to speed with the latest happenings in this field, and try to determine where I fit in this great puzzle. Also, getting to attend OSCON gives me hope. I hope that you’ll be able to provide more scholarships next year, and that you continue to be able to attract the right types of people. And hopefully you won’t reject my talk proposal next year either :)Suranga
