Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, analysed the performance of nearly 1,500 companies, looking for those that had outperformed the general stock market significantly over a 15-year period. He looked for the common factors that might explain their ‘good to great’ performance. One of his key findings was that the leaders of such companies ‘got the right people on the bus.’
