We explored a whole host of ideas;
we experimented with new textures; we
modeled, sculpted, emptied, and
dematerialized spaces using light, as the
evanescence of an intimate sensation
which comes from the exterior.
The key element we wanted to
incorporate in the inter-zone pathway
was the element of surprise. The quest
to incite emotion is as much the
remittance of the architect as it is of
the designer.

It’s the light that defines the space and
it’s the light that makes this project
so magical. Its always light that directs
our vision towards tectonic creations.
Filling empty concrete spaces;
projecting anamorphic volume into
depths and penetrating even beneath
ground level. It’s an image that is both
horizontal and vertical. It’s an equation
seeking solutions to conflicts between
the solid and immaterial, between
harmony and disharmony.

The services are located within
the building's double skin. The
superstructure is made from steel,
which is much better than concrete as
it is easier to control. The glass is
transparent and there are depressions
and skylights. It is like a musical
composition, like a wave. We wanted to
create the sensation of a moving manta
fish. After passing through the check-in
area, travelers enter a piazza, where
they can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.
The interior design is very important.

The project was conceived from the
desire to bring the natural environment
into this highly technological complex
in order to create a comfortable
working ambience. Light, water, and
bamboo are used in a way that
transforms this building into a
landscape. This project is the evolution
of a new poetry genre of lightness.

The cloud—a totally free form housing
the conference halls—is the
distinguishing mark of this creation. It
appears to be suspended inside the
shell, halfway between the floor and
the ceiling of the large illuminated hall.
Built out of steel and Teflon, it is
supported by a dense mesh of steel
ribs, braced and resting on three
elements.

These façades are pulled taut across
the entire complex, like garments over
a human body. There is a place of
communication between the individual
functions of the building. This
connection is strengthened by the
verticality of the white steles, shaped
sculptures that draw the view upward
and visibly connect the levels.

This building was designed as an
autonomous and sculptural
architectural element. It has a symbolic
role as a space for performances. The
volume is light-enhanced though the
use of a membrane stretched across
the elliptical rings screwed around the
structure. The materials are simple and
elegant: canvas, steel, and cement for
the structure. The exterior finish is a red
PVC membrane.

The New Milan Trade Fair is part of the
recovery of wide urban spaces, and of
the territory that goes beyond the city
borders: areas that aspire to become
geography and landscape.
The glass and steel molded roof was
conceived as a roof landscape. This
feature aims to set up an interplay
between architecture and geography,
and is a motif repeated throughout the
pavilion, which is quite plain.

The building exterior is formed by
alternate layers of concrete and
translucent glass. During the day, the
transparent glass filters the light inside,
and by night it projects light outside,
forming a magical image inspiring a
special, spiritual message.
This project is a venue for
encounters, debate, reasoning, and
solutions.

Architecture is not a mere act of
creation; it is a democratic act which
aims to bring together the community.
This place is imbued with sensibility; it
is a meeting place and a place for
emotions. Because, above all,
architecture is an emotion. Creating a
building is a form of Humanism. Zenith
is a space for sharing; a space for
enlightenment. Zenith is also the way
of understanding “air.”
