Let’s take up where we left off in the last chapter: You are one of those songwriters who is also an excellent performer. You’ve tried to break through to a major label deal with no success. Or you’ve made a conscious choice to eschew the big-business politics of the major labels and strike out on your own as an independent artist. Ain’t technology grand? Now that you can fit what used to be a huge recording studio into your laptop, you can produce your very own CD. You can send it to a CD manufacturing service and get it wrapped nicely, just like the CDs they used to sell at Tower Records—before the Tower fell.
