Much easier to produce is the so-called dirty bomb that might result in a
threat involving the dispersal of radiological material in an eort to contami-
nate a target population or distinct geographical area. e material could be
spread by radiological dispersal devices (RDDs), that is, “dirty bombs” designed
to spread radioactive material through passive (aerosol) or active (explosive)
means. Alternatively, the material could be used to contaminate food or water.
