3 Types of Motivation
Regardless of all you’ve read and heard about motivation, no topic is more confused than the misinformation and misunderstandings about motivation. Unfortunately, traditional motivation is external and uses a push to get people going. It assumes that people can be motivated by money or the things money buys, the consequences of failure (threats), or from inside, what we call inspiration.
On a 3 × 5 card, write: “Motivation vs. Inspiration.” As you continue to study this book and its ideas, begin to record some of the specific external actions you are taking that are traditional motivation. Then attempt to create an alternative set of tools that will inspire rather than motivate.
