Having a camera follow an object automatically is a common technique used by 3D video games. Whether it’s a race car, plane, or character, being able to automatically follow an object as it moves is the key to game play in certain programs. There are several methods for having a camera follow an object, all of which are quite involved and are beyond the scope of this chapter. We’ll attack this challenge a little later on in the book.
