Although other disciplines, like lighting, sound, projection, and special effects, may not have the most obvious uses for 3D fabrication technologies, more and more they are being seen in every sector of the entertainment industry.
3D printing can even be useful when working on special events. Production manager, Jay Sheehan, had a simple, scale podium printed for an event in 2014 for YoungArts directed by Bill T. Jones at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The director was able to use the scale podium on top of the groundplan to chart out its intended moves (see Figure 12.1).
