Shooting 3D for Broadcast or Editing

 

Stereoscopic production is currently experiencing a fast-paced evolutionary process. On a typical show, we’ll see an expert stereographer collaborating with a set crew that has little or no experience in 3D. Major 3D movies currently in production are directed by filmmakers doing their first 3D story. If the camera rig is not a prototype, it was most likely adapted for the show, received a microcode update, or runs on new image-analysis software. It is a safe assumption that no 3D unit has ever been used in the same configuration on two movies—and this will be the trend for years to come.
