Candy Store Story

A while back, we were on vacation in the outskirts of beautiful Seattle. That would be 11 of us. (It’s more of a trip, though, instead of vacation, if you know what I mean.)

After a great dinner, we went for a walk in the small town of Snoqualmie. It was near 8:00 p.m. and, as they say, “they rolled up the sidewalks.” Nothing was open. It was still light out so we walked and browsed through the town.

We passed a candy store, which also had ice cream. We all got excited and wanted to get some candy and ice cream (we hadn’t yet had dessert).

“Oh, too bad,” said one of the folks in the group. “It’s closed.” The big red OPEN sign now blinked CLOSED.

We pushed on the door anyway and even though it didn’t move, we didn’t want to believe ...
