Abstract.

Intellectual property (IP) is an asset that can be bought and sold and often is the most important asset for high-tech companies. Therefore, it is apparent that it should be protected effectively, efficiently and with much planning and consideration. Managing IP in small to medium enterprises can be difficult and confusing due to lack of funds and incorrect knowledge, but this does not have to be the case. It is important to develop an IP strategy early, incorporate it into your business plan and develop a system for managing the strategy that works for your company.
