Introduction

In this chapter we present empirical findings from case studies in Northern Norway that describe the complex environmental and societal context that shapes vulnerability and adaptation to climate change in coastal fishing communities. The case studies incorporate local knowledge in an approach that provides a means for researchers and community members to interactively identify local vulnerability factors, and which empowers communities to reflect on local adaptation needs.
