18 Weighting the Body

In the weight painting method, I explained how we approach the weights by painting bones one by one and the first thing we will do with the spine is bend that rule slightly. Instead of going bone by bone, we can make the process faster by tackling the whole torso at once.

Start by locking all groups except those belonging to the pelvis, abdomen and chest. If you have gone through the preparation steps, the entire body should be weighted to the pelvis. In the section stage, paint weights using the Add Hard brush and section off the weights that should belong to each of those bones. Extend the chest group to everything connected to the chest, i.e. arms, neck and head.
