Phase I: The First Six Months
During the first six-month period, you will set the foundation for the rest of your work. This does not imply in any way that this is a period when there will be no improvement. Instead, real, measured progress in performance, not just in implementation, needs to occur in each six-month period. As described in the Section V introduction, the activities will be in five areas. For Phase I, these key initiatives are
1. Create strategic goals for the business.
2. Give your people new capabilities or tools to practice improvement.
3. Begin the discussion of new social interactions and a new culture for the business that is more inclusive for individuals and more autonomous.
