KPIs and Metrics

The purpose of using and deploying project metrics is to provide meaningful quantitative proofs required to answer important questions or hypotheses about improved or degraded performance. As such, it is comparative in nature and speaks to material changes in performance or relationships. GIGO (garbage in/out) is an example of poor inputs, which lead to poor outputs or conclusions. Poor conclusions also lead to faulty and consequential organization decisions. So, it is not enough to have metrics; they must be meaningful and accurate and answer specific questions or hypotheses.
